Do Hobes have arch support?
Hobes are produced with unlined leather (or microfibre for our Non Leather range) and are designed to be lightweight and soft. Without lining, the shoes are flexible and unstructured. All styles except for The Chelsea Boot are flat, without built in arch support. The inner soles are cushioned and this coupled with soft rubber soles makes for an incredibly comfortable shoe!
Can you wear orthotics with Hobes?
Yes, you sure can! Orthotics are fine to wear with your Hobes. If you wear a full length orthotic, you may need to take one size larger than normal in your Hobes. If you only have a half length orthotic, you should be fine to take your normal size.
How do I clean my Hobes?

Do Hobes suit wide or narrow feet?
Both! Our Hobes have a very soft upper structure, which means they will mould and shape around your foot, whether they be narrow or wide. If your feet are on the wider side, we recommend our Point Hobe style. If your feet are very narrow, we suggest a laced style (The Boat Hobe, The Original, or The Wooly Hobe) to ensure a snug fit.
Do you have stockists?
Hobes are available only through our online store.
Do you wholesale your products?
No, we do not. By eliminating wholesale, and removing brick and mortar expenses, we are able to keep costs low and sell a premium product at a fair price direct to our customers.
Do you custom make shoes/sizes to order?
At this time we are unable to produce custom orders. Our Hobes have been designed to be incredibly soft and as we use unlined leather for the shoe upper, the Hobes will give, loosen up and mould to your foot with wear. So far we are yet to meet a foot that does not fit our Hobes! For further information on sizing and fit, please view the size guide here and note size comments on each product page.
What do I do if an item is out of stock?
If we are out of stock in your size and we are planning to re-order this style, you will find an enquiry form on the product page. Please submit your email address here and we will let you know as soon as your size is back in stock. If there is no re-order form on the product page, this means we will not be re-stocking the style.

Domestic: Regular Post shipping is free for orders over $190, and Express Post shipping is free for orders over $400. Orders for less than $190 will be charged $9 for Regular Post. We also offer an Express Post option for a flat rate of $15.
International: A flat rate of $19 will be charged for shipping to New Zealand. A flat rate of $35 will be charged for shipping to all other countries.
For orders placed outside of Australia, please order from our international website. Once you have placed your order, you will receive an email confirmation with your order number, and as soon as your order is processed and fulfilled you’ll receive a tracking number so you’ll be able to follow its journey. We endeavour to pack and dispatch all orders within 24 hours, and orders should arrive at their destination within 2-4 business days. Delivery time may vary depending on destination and we do our best to get your order to you as quickly as humanly possible. However, we cannot be held responsible for conditions beyond our control such as shipping service interruptions.
Customers are encouraged to double check shipping address information during check out and before confirming orders. Hobes is not responsible for replacing parcels delivered if incorrect address information is provided at time of order.

Leather Hobes should fit firmly to start with. They will give and loosen up with wear as a result of the ultra light soft leather used to construct the shoe upper.
Our Boat Hobes, Point Hobes and Chelsea Boots (including wool-lined Chelsea Boots) run true to size. If your measurements are between sizes, always size up.
For Wooly Hobes, please take one full size up to allow for the lambswool lining.
Non Leather Hobes do not give out or loosen up, so they should not feel overly firm to begin with. If in doubt we always suggest sizing up with the Non Leather Hobes.
How to find your size:
- Stand with your back against a straight wall on a level floor and with a ruler or tape, measure the length of your foot from your heel to your longest toe.
- Compare this measurement with the lengths (cm) in the size chart below
- Select your European size. If your measurement is between sizes, we recommend you select the larger size.
Duties & Taxes
International orders may be subject to import duties and/or taxes. These charges are applied when your package arrives in your country. Your order is shipped on a Delivery Duty Unpaid basis, Hobes is not responsible for any import fees or duties on international orders. We are unable to estimate the amount of duties and taxes your package will incur as these charges are imposed directly by customs in your country. Payment of these is necessary to release your order from customs. For more information, please contact your local customs office.
Returns & Exchanges
For orders placed within Australia, full priced items (including full priced items purchased with a discount code), that are unworn and have not been altered, can be exchanged or returned. A return request must be submitted and your Hobes must be received by our warehouse within 30 days of purchase date.
For orders placed outside Australia, full priced items (including full priced items purchased with a discount code), that are unworn and have not been altered, can be returned, but not exchanged. A return request must be submitted within 30 days of purchase date. If you wish to exchange, please return you Hobes for a refund and place a new order through our online store.
Sale items are final sale and cannot be returned or exchanged.

3) The customer is responsible for shipping returns and exchanges to our warehouse, we do not cover the cost for return shipping. We cannot accept liability for an item until it is received by us, so please keep a record of your tracking for proof of delivery.
4) Exchanges will be processed within 48 hours of the items being received. We will ship your first exchange to you free of charge, any additional exchanges will be charged a $9 for shipping.
5) Refunds will be credited to the original payment method, shipping costs are non-refundable.
At Hobes, we’re committed to minimising our environmental impact. And this starts with our online store. We are an online-only business, which means no physical stores or retail spaces. On average, e-commerce stores use 30% less energy than traditional retail, we'd say that's a win in itself.
Our product philosophy is based around “slow movement” design and development. We produce a tightly edited range of simple, classic and timeless styles in a range of colours and materials. We produce very small runs that are available until sold out, and we work hard to ensure we never have wastage in our production.
We’re working towards being a virgin plastic free brand. In the last year we’ve replaced all packaging and materials with sustainable options. Your Hobes will now be delivered to you using only recycled, biodegradable or compostable materials. We’re working with our supply chain to continue our focus of being completely virgin plastic free and we will keep you updated with progress on this here.

Production & Materials
Hobes are designed in Australia and handmade in Hong Kong. The production team is led by a fourth generation Italian boot maker who uses traditional Italian techniques in the development of each Hobes style. Our founder regularly spends time in our factory working with the production team as we constantly revise and improve our production methods.
Sustainability is a key focus for us and we are working continually to ensure we reduce our environmental impact as much as possible not only through production, but in every single way we operate as a business.
Each pair of Hobes has been handmade with the finest materials we can source.
Our Leather range is made with very fine, unlined suede or napa leather. Whilst the majority of our leather comes from Italy, we do occasionally source from other countries for specific leather as we strive to find the best materials we can, to make the softest Hobes.
Our new Non Leather range has been produced with top quality microfibres, which have been sustainably produced. Synthetic leathers typically are not sustainable, and this is something we’ve worked hard to achieve through developing this new category. Our aim with this new range is to offer a leather alternative, using materials that are also water resistant and washable, whilst still carrying all the softness that is signature to Hobes.
Our Wooly Hobes and Wool Lined Chelsea Boot are produced with incredibly soft Australian lambswool, which has been sourced from the Hobes family farm in country Victoria.
To ensure Hobes are long lasting and to guarantee you can walk for miles and miles in ultimate comfort, we use lightweight, flexible rubber to produce our soles. Although thin, the rubber we use is highly durable, trust us when we say you won’t walk out these soles, ever. We’ve explored soles made from wood or leather, and at the end of the day, these materials have high maintenance and need to be re-soled (usually with rubber) over time.
All Hobes are made with the finest quality, softest natural fibres available and should be a firm fit to begin with. They are designed to mould to your foot and will naturally loosen up with wear. Think of them like wearing a sock, and equate the fit to that if you’re not sure how they should feel. Please note slight marks and variation in surface texture are not flaws, but simply exist as part of the nature of various leathers.
Looking after your Hobes will ensure they live a long and happy life. Before wearing, all Hobes MUST be sprayed with leather / suede protector. This will provide a protective coating to help repel any liquids and keep your Hobes looking their best. And you can re-spray every couple of months if you like! Suede can be kept fresh with a suede brush, which can also help clean surface dirt and marks.

Our store is hosted on Shopify Inc. They provide us with the online e-commerce platform that allows us to sell our products and services to you.
Your data is stored through Shopify’s data storage, databases and the general Shopify application. They store your data on a secure server behind a firewall.
If you choose a direct payment gateway to complete your purchase, then Shopify stores your credit card data. It is encrypted through the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). Your purchase transaction data is stored only as long as is necessary to complete your purchase transaction. After that is complete, your purchase transaction information is deleted.
All direct payment gateways adhere to the standards set by PCI-DSS as managed by the PCI Security Standards Council, which is a joint effort of brands like Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover.
